Dreams of Riding Met with Reality

I have a fascination for motorbikes. In fact, at one point, I sold motocross helmets and other accessories to make a living. My mother owned her own. It would terrify the bajeezus out of me with its roar and speed, but once I became a teenager she offered me a ride. I was relunctant, and after much shoving and tugging, my mother got me onto the bike. We sped off, and that was when I realized just how exciting and fun this really was. The freedom, the speed, feeling the wind and the road under the wheels, it's exhilirating. I've told my friends that I wish to one day own my own motorbike, but my best friend insists against it. She had three relatives all die because of bike crashes each one on their first drive with a new bike. It was a little freaky, learning that fact. With the risks involved in mind, I've since hung up my dream of owning my own motorbike, but not without a rather crestfallen air. Maybe they'll make safer bikes one day. Maybe I'll build something like a motorbike for myself. Who knows. One day, I just hope to go fast and feel the road fly underneath my wheels again.
